Ministries: Mission and Outreach

Christ’s Love, Our Hands

We believe all people have a ministry they are called to.

Lay-persons, bishops, priests, and deacons are all considered ministers. Our duty as laity is clearly stated in the Book of Common Prayer: 

The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and His Church; to bear witness to Him wherever we may be; and, according to the gifts given us, to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world; and to take our place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church.

A ministry is a call to be rather than something to do. A ministry is, and is derived from, careful and deliberate prayer. 

  • In order to be church out in the world we must have a vibrant worship life and a beautiful space to gather for renewal. To support these needs, those of every age are invited to partake in one of the following parish ministries:

    • Worship Servers - serve as an acolyte, crucifer, Eucharistic minister, or lector during worship

    • Coffee Hour Minister - support our weekly coffee hour fellowship by bringing tasty treats and/or setting and cleaning up

    • Buildings & Grounds Minister - help us tend our grounds and keep up our beautiful building

    • Lay Eucharistic Visitor - bring Communion to our home-bound parishioners or those in hospital

  • Helping to feed those (both within the parish and beyond) facing food-insecurity is very important to us. We do so in a number of different ways throughout the year:

    • Collecting and delivering pantry staples to the Ilse Marks/Stoughton Food Pantry

    • Donating backpacks containing a week’s worth of lunch supplies to Stoughton students for use over school vacation weeks, when free school lunches are not available

    • Preparing and donating festive dinner baskets with all the fixings for a Christmas or Easter dinner

  • Trinity helps support Evelyn House, a shelter in Stoughton for homeless women and children. Part of Father Bill’s/Mainspring, Evelyn House provides a safe place for women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence and homelessness.

    Trinity collects twin sized bedding, sheets, blankets, pillows as well as personal care items like toothpaste, shampoo, and feminine care products for the shelter throughout the year.

    As clients transition out of Evelyn House into permanent housing, these bedding and personal items go with them, helping them to start a new home.

  • Trinity has been participating in an annual medical mission to the Dominican Republic for the past many years. Parishioners with the needed medical training help to staff the clinic, while the whole parish is involved in collecting needed supplies for the team to bring with them.  While there, the team runs a week-long clinic in a local Dominican Episcopal Parish, a community without robust access to basic medical care.

  • We partner with the Children’s Hospital of Boston Bloodmobile to host a blood drive on the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year.

  • During the season of Advent, we partner with the local non-profit My Brother’s Keeper to collect Christmas gifts for families in need. Interested parishioners also make a group outing to the MBK warehouse to wrap gifts.
